Project Manager – Mining – Sierra Leone

Overview

A Project Manager is required by a large International business for a mining project based in Sierra Leone, West Africa.

Our Client

Ping International Recruitment are partnered with an outstanding International main contractor on an exclusive basis to help source an experience Project Manager to lead a existing mining project in Sierra Leone. Our client have a large project portfolio across West Africa and have a number of on-going large value projects in the region as well as a pipeline of work upcoming for 2025/2026.

The Role

The position available is a Project Manager role. The position will be responsible for:

· Leadership of the project team

· All day-to-day management of the project

· Representing the Company as Delegated Authority on the Contract. Client facing; developing relations through cooperation and coordination, advising clients, pursuing payments, securing repeat business and tendering new work opportunities

· Management of opportunity and risk. Control of cost.

· Management of production team to meet targets in line with the Mine Plan and DIG’s pricing model

· Management of the Plant team to deliver mechanical plant availability to enable the above within budget

· Management of Commercial team to ensure company commercial and contractual position is protected, along with timely applications for payment and pricing of any additional works

· Management of Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental and Sustainability performance, ensuring adherence to relevant company policies

·Production, development, implementation and maintenance of all project documentation/records – Project Execution Plan, QA Plan, Project Programme and HSE Plan

·Long term project planning and coordination, including plant and equipment planning and procurement

·Managing any approval processes

·Project procurement and management of logistics, including local and UK procurement needs, shipping and clearing goods from the port

The position will report into the Country Manager and Regional Director for the business. The role is project based but will be extended depending on work and project availability at the end of the current project (Scheduled until 2028).

The ideal candidate will have:

– Degree qualified in Civil or Mining Engineering

– Experience working in Africa, ideally West Africa

– Stable employment history with either main contractors or mining production businesses

– Experience leading a mining project as a Project Manager

– Happy to work on a rotational basis on a single status

– Excellent references and a strong HSE track record

The salary/ package

Our client is offering a market leading 7 week on 2 week off rotation with housing, transport, flights and insurances covered. In addition they will provided a NET salary of around £100k GBP per annum.
