Commercial Manager – Mining – Sierra Leone
Overview
A Commercial Manager is required by a large International business for a mining project based in Sierra Leone, West Africa.

Ping International Recruitment are partnered with an outstanding International main contractor on an exclusive basis to help source an experienced Commercial Manager to lead a existing mining project in Sierra Leone. Our client have a large project portfolio across West Africa and have a number of on-going large value projects in the region as well as a pipeline of work upcoming for 2025/2026.
The Role
The position available is a Commercial Manager role. The position will be responsible for:
· All day-to-day commercial management of the project
· Management of monthly progress payment applications, together with production calculations; agreement with Client
· Production of monthly cost/value/profit reports and comparison to tender
· Liaison with the production team to understand and capture costs and progress
· Liaison with the production team to capture any changes to the Mine Plan and DIG’s pricing model assumptions and pursue commercially
· Liaison with the Plant team to understand costs
· Contractual correspondence and notifications
· Pricing of additional works for inclusion in Applications
· Management of Client payments to ensure timely remittance
· Management of in-country payments to workforce, suppliers etc and associated bank transactions
· Local project procurement and reconciliation against tender allowances
· Client liaison and weekly meetings
· Tender preparation, including pricing and Contract review of bids for other or related projects
The position will report into the Project Manager and Regional Director for the business. The role is project based but will be extended depending on work and project availability at the end of the current project (Scheduled until 2028).
The ideal candidate will have:
– Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying
– Experience working in Africa, ideally West Africa
– Stable employment history with either main contractors or mining production businesses
– Experience working as a Commercial Manager on civils, infrastructure or mining projects
– Happy to work on a rotational basis on a single status
– Excellent references
The salary/ package
Our client is offering a market leading 7 week on 2 week off rotation with housing, transport, flights and insurances covered. In addition they will provided a NET salary of around £100k GBP per annum.
